Northside Neighborhood Partnership

The Northside Neighborhood Partnership brings the study of Shakespeare to the College Hill District through semester-long workshops and Education Tour performances at Bryan Hill and Clay Elementary Schools. An in-school, cross-curricular introduction to Shakespeare is provided for all 3rd grade students and Shakespeare Festival Teaching Artists work with 4th and 5th grade students for an entire semester to prepare student performances for friends, family and community. Students, families and teachers are invited to the Festival in Forest Park, with transportation provided by the Festival, where they are welcomed from the stage as Partners in Education.

City Academy Shakespeare

City Academy Shakespeare provides an opportunity for students, ages 6-11, to examine Shakespeare with Festival Teaching Artists to develop a 40-minute adaptation of a Shakespeare play. This semester-long partnership, in its fourth year, works with students from a variety of backgrounds to build community and increase academic skills.

Metro Youth Shakespeare

2010 Metro Youth Shakespeare: Hamlet

Metro Youth Shakespeare, a semester-long residency, works collaboratively with students and teachers from 10 to 12 schools each year, exploring the skills needed to analyze, rehearse and perform Shakespeare’s texts. Students learn about the language, history and society of Shakespeare’s plays to develop production concepts, direct scenes, design sets, costumes and lighting, audition and cast student actors from their schools. The program culminates in three public ensemble performances for family, friends and the theatre-loving public.

For 2010, the program begins in January and culminates in March with performances at the Emerson Performance Center at Harris-Stowe State University. Click to download the Metro Youth FAQ and schedule.
